It’s not that the current Taylor Swift vs Nicki Minaj Twitter war isn’t good enough… it really is, but when you bring Katy Perry and Rihanna into it and watch the ladies all mouth off over something it gets down right epic. Let’s not forget the funniest part about this…. This started over Nicki Minaj posting tweets because apparently she was upset that the VMAs didn’t nominate her for anything.
I think it is very important point to remember in the middle of all this is that the VMAs are one of the the worst, if not the worst, of all the pointless, made-up awards in the popular music industry. I mean honestly, people eat it up and I have no idea why? The fact that artists get so upset about not being nominated for a “Moon Man” is beyond me, but hey, it is what it is right?
So that set’s the stage for the Twitter battle, with Minaj and Taylor Swift already going back and forth. Enter Katy Perry, who already has personal beef and bad blood with Taylor Swift. She took this opportunity to jump in again and go after Swift. Also, she brought Rihanna along with her… and now it has turned into the Twitter war we have all been waiting for. The Meek Mill / Drake Twitter war is nothing in comparison.
“When the ‘other’ girls drop a video that breaks records and impacts culture they get that nomination,” Minaj tweeted, in between retweeting her followers’ examples of the cultural impact of Anaconda in the past year. “If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year.”
Swift ended up seeing those Tweets of course and felt they were aimed at her… which they probably were, as she is the only white woman to be nominated in the video of the year category. Swift is nominated for nine awards in total. Those two went back and forth a few times and then apparently Katy Perry jumped into the mix and brought Rihanna with her. This is what happened next:
OMG, God bless The Guardian for this amazing FACTUAL article. Shame on Glamour. Yuck. https://t.co/693HCLNV6e

And then Perry thought she would jump in.
Finding it ironic to parade the pit women against other women argument about as one unmeasurably capitalizes on the take down of a woman…

It seems that Perry was referring to Bad Blood, a song about a feud between former female friends that is widely understood as a reference to Perry, after Swift “clued us in” over the last year or so regarding her feeling on Perry.
The real travesty is where is the shine for #BBHMMVideo when VMA eligibility period was 7/7/14-7/1/15 & that gem dropped 7/1… @MTV

So, this can only get better from here right? The pointless VMAs coming up, four of the biggest females in music today going at it…. it could only get better if Beyonce jumped in at this point. But I don’t see that happening, though I am pretty confident we will hear from Kanye at some point.
