The death of singer Simone Battle was ruled a suicide by hanging according to authorities. The announcement was made two days after the 25-year-old Battle was found dead in her West Hollywood home, Los Angeles County Coroner’s Lt. Fred Corral said. This is just more sad news out of Hollywood, as suicide by hanging has been in the news much more than we would like to hear.
Battle came to fame through her performances on the Simon Cowell show “The X-Factor.” She was also part of a five-member band — G.R.L., which was originally a reboot of the Pussycat Dolls — and they had been signed by mega-hit maker Dr. Luke.
Up to this point the group had found a little success, being on rapper Pitbull’s hit song “Wild Wild Love” earlier this year. Battle told The Associated Press in July that the collaboration gave the group a platform to launch its debut single, “Ugly Heart.” It is not at this point why the singer took her own life, but speculation is obviously running rampant.
A posting on G.R.L.’s Twitter account on Saturday said:
“Words cannot express the depth of our loss. Simone’s incredible talent was only surpassed by the size of her heart.”
“We will carry her memory with us in everything we do.”
